Been riding sxs for a few years now at hmt. I have owned 4 different rzrs in those two years from 16 turbo to 900s. I sold turbo and bought a 17 yxz ss se this past spring. Installed gear reduction and have to say best sxs I have ever rode will go anywhere I want it to. I now have 17 rzr 1000xp and the yxz and looking to add a 4 wheeler to the group. Been looking at the 18 sportsman 1000 xp. It is comfortable and has plenty power. So my question is there a way I can get the grizzly 700 to ride as nice as the sportsman. The power difference to me is not as important as a comfortable ride is. We easily do 80 plus miles in a day some hmt some outlaw. Thank for any input.

Welcome to GC. Post up an intro when you get a chance.

I'm not familiar with the ride on the Sportsman other than taking my father-in-law's on a lap around the pasture. Elka shocks are a popular mod around here but they're spendy if money is an issue. If not, I'd definitely go with the Griz and Elkas. I've seen too many complaints on the Sportsman. Visit their forum and look around. See what they are complaining about and consider if you want to be complaining about the same things in the future. That's not to say that you won't see any complaints on the Griz around here but you also won't see complaints about prematurely worn bushings, bearings and melting plastics either. And by the way, father-in-law saw the light on his Sportsman. It's gone like a fart in the wind. lol

Years ago I said I would never own a Polaris and now of owned four of them. I never keep them long enough to see any major problems. After all day riding at hmt and switching from rzr to yxz about half way through, I can say there is a big difference in quality. Out of the four rzrs I have had they all start out nice and quiet and then after about ten hours the rattles and vibrations start. I don't want same thing in a 90 hp atv. I have found my replacement for the rzr in the yxz ss with gear reduction. If Polaris is having same problems with there atv's I don't want any part of it.

I get the feeling that about anything that says Polaris on it has those issues these days. Although, I have't heard anything about the Slingshot. Maybe that's okay. We ended up with a rzr as we needed something for my wife to haul the kids in if we were to ever have them on the trail with us. We'll be replacing it before long with the new Wolverine, most likely. The X4 ain't exactly purty, but it's a Yamaha.

I think a large part of the new sportsman comfy ride is the memory foam type seat. The price difference in the new grizzly and sportsman would allow some suspension upgrades and maybe a new seat for the grizzly if there is such a seat. Didn't know if anyone had any comparison between stock and an aftermarket suspension grizzly. I have a 2008 rincon that I drive hear on the farm but have no desire to take it to hmt. The sxs machines have spoiled me to a comfy ride but still miss the freedom filling of being on a atv and I only have room on my trailer for two sxs and one atv.

I'm very happy with the seat on my 14. It's nicely padded. I haven't planted my backside on a 16+ so I can't comment there. Seek out member PAGrizzly. He and his wife both have Elka shocks on their machines.

And now the Slingshot is in the news with a tragic outcome - Polaris 3-Wheeled Slingshot Probed After Deadly Driver Ejection

Would be interesting to know if speed was a factor in causing the Slingshot to slide out... but that wouldn't explain a potential seatbelt retractor failure.
Interesting article and agreed. And I'm shocked (not) that they're having issues with another one of their products. That company will go to extreme lengths to save a dime. For example..... they replaced the voltage regulator on our rzr due to it getting too hot and causing a fire hazard. Then there was a recall on the recall because the plug wasn't sealed where the wires go in which was causing issues. And then there was the recall on the recall on the recall because they didn't put 13¢ worth of wire loom on the regulator wire which was causing wires to chafe and short. If they put as much effort into building a solid product as they put into trying to save a dime, who knows what their sales would be! Rant over. Sorry.
