You can not connect a car diagnostic machine to a grizzly or wolverine or any yamaha product of any sort or year. Yamaha has a diagnostic tool which is basically the same as using diagnostic mode on the pod. The only difference is it can be connected to machines without a pod like the dirt bikes. It also has a USB connection to go to a computer to see live sensor values and running information. The diagnostic tool can be purchased for fairly cheap but doesn't offer much unless you can obtain the computer program which I have never seen
I didn't see any reference to an automotive scanner. Here is the Yamaha tool I thought the OP was referring to. I also saw this tool listed for sale by usa companies.
2016 and newer do have a port located below the pod to fit the connector in the picture. I've seen videos of this tool being connected without the connector. Since the tool has been available since 2007-8 I assume that it is possible to connect it to the 07-15 FI's There are more adjustments available than on the pod especially after 2011-12 when the pod mod was disabled. scanner-for-yamaha-diagnostic
SERVICE AND MAINTAIN YOUR YAMAHA ATV EXACTLY AS THE MECHANICS DO. SAVE MONEY. This diagnostic scanner enables you to read and erase the fault codes that relate to the check engine light on your Yamaha ATV. The code reader is of the highest quality with a well designed display, most importantly...
OBD2 Diagnostic Code Reader Adapter Scanner for Yamaha Motorcycle ATV. For certain Yamaha motorbikes motorcycle ATV or similar. Typical use includes connection with Diagnostic systems including OBD2 fault code readers.
For certain Yamaha motorbikes motorcycle ATV or similar. Typical use includes connection with Diagnostic systems including OBD2 fault code readers. 4 pin Plug Adaptor for use with certain Yamaha motorbikes.
It appears that those scanners can only scan and possibly only codes. They cannot adjust the EFI.
If you own a OBD2 scanner you can just buy the appropriate cable for you machine for 8-12 bucks Adapter cables
Agreed they do not program but but some claim they can show live engine data like the software I use for my Suzuki outboard. I've reached out to a few vendors to find out if that is the case. I'd be happy with software used with my Suzuki. Full live data and interesting historical facts about the engine including how many times engine has been used in 1k level RPM ranges up to and including over-rev. It haven't played with any of the test actuation stuff in that software but seemed similar to Toyota Techstream which I have used as well.
I'm looking for diagnostic with full engine data myself.. not interesting in tuning things as some may want.
