I have a 2005 grizzly 660. Was riding it last month and it became really boggy so one I got it home I noticed the carb boot that goes from engine to carb had a large tear in it. So I ordered a new one and put it on and now it won't start. Just put a new plug in it as well and it still won't start. It has spark, gas, and all the air filter and hoses are hooked up. Once in awhile it'll backfire when I try to start but that's it. Any ideas? Would really like to get her going! Been sitting too long for my liking

Hey..sponable72..Welcome to GC from Wisconsin.

Are you sure it has fuel? Does't it flood trying to start it? After trying to start it pull out the plug it should be wet.

Holding the spark plug against a ground does it have a good blue spark?

If that all checks out. Get a service manual and an ohmmeter then check the pulse coil.

If that checks out adjust the valves. You should adjust them anyway.

Also Check compression. If that boot was split for a time, you could have some ring or valve damage from pulling in foreign material through that split.

You could have stirred up dirt in the bowl and have a blocked jet.
