Thanks already to some members who replied to my tire questions, I just recently joined.
Been working on the rear axles and CV's, we had a boot split riding in deep mud and water but didn't see it until it started making noise. :crying:
Here's what I found: CV joints + clicking sounds = $$$
I decided to replace all 4 rear boots (I think they are just old) and the 1 bad inner cv joint. Along the way I found the lower knuckle bushing were worn, so I replaced the lower bushings on both sides. Of course, once you pull the axles, yeah, new axle seals too. And who designed these seals anyway? Why isn't there a stop for the seal? Yep, tapped that in way too far. And guess what the seal puller crushes when you try to pull it back out? That little spring inside.:surprise:
Hopefully, the 2nd set of seals will go on a little better....

Welcome from Colorado.
Thanks for your story, you'll fit right in.
Should I ask why your screen name is Fireball? or wait to find out on the trail?

Hey Ridgway, guess you will have to find out on the trail!!
My second set of rear axle seals went in much better, I made a tool out of pvc so I could drive them in evenly and not go too deep - worked great.
One axle rebuilt with new boots, one to go!
