Im a new atv owner and choose a 2004 kodiak 450 and boy do I love it. I have completely restored this machine. I have to say for the age of this beauty I have so impressed. Any known problems with this year that I need to be aware of? It currently has 464 miles and 189 hours. The only issue I have had is it taking some time for the 4x4 light and diff lock light to disappear after taking 4x4 out.

Welcome to GC. Looks like a brand new machine! The only problem I know about is finding enough time to get out and ride. Members @Deez or @oleblue22 will probably come around and chime in on your 4x4 question.

Welcome aboard. Nice looking machine. My 450 can take a few seconds for the lights to go off after I put it back into 2wd. It has done this since day 1. It all depends on if I'm moving and if I slow down and accelerate gradually, enough to take the load off the components and allow them to release. If the load is gone, the 4wd releases and lights go off right away. I remember my first 4wd trucks being like this. If yours is the same and there are no other issues, I wouldn't be too concerned about it.

Welcome from Colorado.
The front diff can be in a slight bind under load when fully engaged, so when the button is pushed to disengage the system needs to relax for the parts to separate.
For example when I engage the front diff for a mud hole and want to go back to 2 wheel drive, I hit the button and go knowing the first time I let off the throttle the diff unlocks. What is more critical is diff engagement before hitting a mud hole. I hit the button and let the diff fully engage before hitting the gas.
Welcome! Nice bike, looks new! Not sure how long of a delay you're having but there will be a slight delay in the 4wd and diff lock light going off if the bike is not moving. Typically when you're rolling you can go to 2wd and 4wd on the fly and it should only take a few seconds to go in and out and the indicator light should follow suit. Coming in and out of diff lock, most of the time the diff lock light will flash until you roll forward or backwards a bit to allow the gears to fully mesh inside the diff.
Well I'm late to the party....so I'll just say hi. ?

And I got to turn in my notifications. I am not getting that I am being dinged (or whatever it's called).
Congrats on the new machine! Looks great.
Welcome aboard, and congrats on the sweet machine.....I'd be scared to ride it looking that nice. ;)
