All,

I cant seem to get the correct information if the new 700 motors require valve lash adjustment/checking or not like the older 660's and first few years of the 700. The owners manual I believe only shows for it to be checked at the 20 hour service. I don't recall seeing this to be checked again? I am referring to a 2016 year 700 motor. Thank you.

Yes it lists it at 20 hrs then again at longer intervals.

It will be a diff process than the older models due to this one utilizes DOHC (dual overhead cams) and a shim under bucket valve setup. You will have to measure the clearance and use the shim of various thickness to adjust the clearance.

Most people believe this style won't require adjustment as frequently, and with that said my 04 660 that used the adjustment nuts on the rockers, was in spec the first few times I checked it, so I never messed with tearing it down to inspect anymore.

Once I get my service manual in I'll be anxious to see where the clearance on my 16 currently is. It has 39 hrs on it right now.
