Hello All. I bought a used 2001 Grizzly 600 yesterday, mainly for plowing my driveway and around the house. I noticed some oil on my garage floor after work today and upon closer inspection with the machine running can see oil seeping out of the top of the cover that houses the stator and bolts to the side of the engine. Pretty much directly below the gear shifter. Should there be oil in the stator? Will a simple gasket replacement remedy this? The machine seems solid and came with a plow for $2000 so I felt good about the purchase. Thanks for any help or advice offered.

Yes there is oil under the stator cover. It lubricates the timing chain, starter chain and clutch, oil pump chain, etc...

Replacing the gasket should fix the leak if the gasket is the issue (no case cracks). Won't know until you pull it apart.
