power loss with 27” tires

1521 Views 10 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Grizzcrazy
I have a 2016 grizzly eps. I have 27” itp mudlites Hmf exhaust and tuner. The bike seems to-be bogged down on take of not real sure about top end bc I changed the tires right after break in Def has trouble in heavy mud. I mostly trail ride but def won’t pass up a good mud pit. I had the epi clutch recommended but after reading other threads I’m concerned about tearing up a clutch and or not getting what I want speed and power What should I do. All opinions welcome. If you have a suggestion please give me a link for parts. Thanks.

Machined sheave or shim mod. A lot of threads on GC about clutch mods.
Found the s kit from jbs. With the machined sheave will something like this give me what I’m looking for I can’t include a link yet but it’s the jbs hot rod extreme clutch kit with sheave

Google coop45 and send him an email. For 150 he will machine your sheave for you and you will be riding wheelies with ease with them 27's

Coop45 sheave with and a 25$ EPI purple spring
And you'll be good to go!

P.S. Do you use low range when mudding?

Coop45 it is coming soon with the orange secondary spring
I think the stock spring is damn near identical to the epi orange, you may want to change to the purple spring.
According to EPI specs on their website, the orange and purple spring are nearly identical.

Coop45 recommended the orange spring and keep stock weights. So I placed the order according to his recommendation

You are going to be very happy with this set up!
Have fun smashing the throttle and pulling your wheels up!
