Broke a rear inner cv joint and have been fighting with it trying to remove the cup for a while now. I've removed the axles before, but usually break the outer joint. Is it possible to pull the axle out of the other side and use a punch to remove the broken cup? Tried looking in the service manual, but nothing to clear on the subject. On a grizzly 700.

Try a slide hammer with a hook on the end, or like this:

Thanks BDSNJ. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a slide hammer.

I have had great success with prying the inner cup out of the diff with two pry bars. Go between cup and diff and use a pry bar on either "side" as to insure it comes out straight. Obviously you have seen the retainer clip before .. sometimes it's just a fight to get over the groove

Update: For anyone with a similar problem where the inner rear joint breaks and you don't have a slide hammer. Simply remove the other axle and using a piece of about 1/2" shaft, one hit with a sledge knocks the broken joint out. Far easier than prying and no chance of cracking the case.
