Holding the brake just enough to get the light to come on has been good enough for me for decades.

It wouldn't be that difficult to add a light though.

Powermadd reverse light kit for Yamaha. Well worth the reasonable price to just get the kit that already has everything you need.

I put a 2 inch 600lm led in the rear storage. Cut the knob off of the storage and put the light and wires in. Works great.

Can never have to much light. this is a rigid SR-M Pro flood. Have it on a 3 way switch with only one side hot. going to rewire it this year with the powermadd reverse kit. just going to use part of the kit so I can have the light come on when I put it in reverse then have the other side of the switch hot of the accs. for when needed to hook and pull on somebody and not need reverse to turn on light.

I almost backed off a hill side once, couple hundred feet vertical drop, a rear light is a good idea, if I start riding technical areas again or night riding, I will add the rear light. Most of my riding is on my farm for the last 7 years.
