Have you done a compression test?

Do a compression test. Rental tester is available from autozone, just make sure it has the correct thread/pitch in the kit as the machine.

Most likely you will need a top end. I have a writeup on where to get parts. Piston cylinder and gaskets.
Replacing only rings does not work, the piston wears as well.
If your cylinder is in good condition, buy rings piston and gasket. should take 8hrs to R&R
