I mocked up the install on my front rack. I separated the two cans so I can strap something down in the middle and it also lets me mount them further back on the front rack obstructing the view slightly less. The second pic shows it's about an 1/8" away from the little raised crossbar. How much movement/flex is there in the rotopax gas containers? Will the rotopax rub on the cross bar as I'm bouncing down the trail?

Don't know about rubbing or flexing but I got some of the foam pipe cover for insulating 1/2 inch copper pipe. It will compress enough to allow mounting the gas cans and prevent the rubbing, cheers. I used it to prevent that while mounting my ice fishing box on the back rack.

They shouldn't flex enough to move a quarter inch when fastened down. They are designed to be used as a traction aid and ground spacer by rolling tire up on them empty or full.

I've used some old black garden hose (split it to mount) and it's helped with the Rotopax mounts.

I use them and they are great for carrying extra fuel, I have the new 9.4 litre from Roto Pax, I made up a plate so I can mount the mounting plate and lock from Roto Pax in the center of the front rack, the plate I used is 3/16 thick and keeps the tank clear of my racks which prevents rubbing on the rack, love the low profile which does not block third headlight from being used, the lock keeps them tight and from moving around nicely.

Finally got it all mounted, they are far back enough on the front rack they really don't obscure the view. They still move a bit too much on the mount for my liking so I'm gonna try to use some rubber to tighten it up.
