i have done the search and seems my bendix "idler gear" is shot.
it would delay on disengaging.
today it didnt disengage and made a hell of a noise.
i removed my starter and could move a gear in the hole in both directions. i believe i read that it should only spin counter clockwise.also heard what sounded like something lose.
so on the parts i need to replace would be the idler gear?
i have looked up this part but want to confirm b4 ordering

idler gear assy

do they just sell the gear or i have to buy assembly?
i have not tore her down to look at it but have seen pictures in my manual.
thanks for the help.

If you don't look for the bad parts, you won't know for sure what is wrong.
I bet its the one way, sprag clutch, going bad if you want a guess.
