Here is a map of open public trails in Michigan.
DNR - ORV/ATV Trail Maps
Gladwin is closest to you, the trails are well established as it is the first place to ride for people coming from the south.
a little farther north in Oscoda county is the Bull Gap loop. I recommend Bull Gap, Most of the trails are restricted to 50" or less so the trails are not tore up from big trucks. On the north side of the loop there is a spur trail that leads to the legendary Bull Gap hill climb area which is a must see if you make it up that way. To be legal you will need a Michigan ORV and Trail permit. You can get them anywhere you get hunting and fishing license. its about $38 for an annual permit.
