top end recommendations?

Hey folks. Long story short, my cousin has a 2005 450 kodi, and a couple weekends ago the lovely air filter design failed him running down a REALLY dusty trail. Needless to say, I've never ridden a two stroke that smokes this bad... so. I told him I'd help him rebuild it since that's more my area than his. I'm going to tear into it and assess first, but if a top end kit is needed instead of just rings, has anyone had good luck with a certain brand of aftermarket? Or should we just go all OEM?

Oem if money's not an issue...proven

Being an 05 I would get complete kit and do the whole top end

If you want ultimate reliability, go OEM.
You will be surprised how cheap Yamaha engine parts are. When I did my top end, oem parts were $100 cheaper than Wiseco or JE Pistons.
