This weekend was Missouri's youth rifle season. My son Wiley shot a button buck. This is his second deer. He let a doe pass 20 minutes earlier but couldn't pass on the second one.






And this is what he was hoping to kill! LOL! I found this laying in a fence row.

Congrats Wiley, and proud daddy, they always say you can't eat the horns.

good shot placement. looks like he hit both lungs. definitely one according to the florescent blood on it's face.

they dont run far when you do that!!!

yep, it didn't run far at all. He's just needed one shot on both he's killed this year and last. I wasn't nearly that good at his age, I always fired a warning shot or two to let them know I was there! LOL!

The horns don't eat good but they sure look nice on the wall!

If I make the trip back to Moab next spring we have meat for a cook out!

I thought he'd missed the deer and a doe that was right behind it ran even closer to our tree stand. I tried to get him to shoot at that one too, but he said, "No Dad I hit the other one." Sure enough he was right.
