First off, sorry, I know this is a Grizzly forum but us Kodiak guys got no place to go. Got a Kodiak 2018 SE because it was more of what I was looking for around my 10 acre very wooded home. I'm trying to figure out what the best winch and mount options are. Trying to keep it on the cheap with a 3k winch. Superwinch has good reviews and their kits comes with everything except a mounting plate. Searched the heck out of Google with no results on the yamaha plate (which apears to be the same as the 700 grizz) if a superwinch will work. I'd prefer to get a kit but can't seem to find one that is a shoe-in. On 11/27/18 they started giving away winch and mount for the Kodiak 2018. I missed it by 1 month. Need some advise from you experts. Trying to keep everything under $350. Of course im doing the labor. Don't mind a bit of drilling if necessary. Looking for a good ling term winch, mount, combo that will pull me out, skin a deer, and move some dead trees for burning. 3k to 3.5k winch load would be preferred if it stays in my price range. Winch, harness, and mount recommendations is what I'm looking for. Preferably in one or two orders. Would prefer synthetic but wire rope is okay too. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can find a Superwinch LT3000 for under $200 and pick up a winch plate for around $50. They're not a single kit but from what your asking, that should work well for you. I have a Warn RT30 on my Griz but have a Superwinch Terra 45 on my Wolverine and it seems to be of pretty good quality. I also had a Superwinch 2000 on my old 660 and it worked fine too.

The other one I might suggest you look at is Motoalliance. They are a site sponsor and will give you a Grizzly Central discount. I put one on my Dad's Grizzly and it has also worked well so far. They include mounts as I recall.

Superwinch terra 3500, KFI mounting plate, or KFI winch and plate, low end would be a badlands from harbor freight, son has one and it has preformed well.

Don't worry about which forum you are in. Your Kodiak IS a Grizzly as far as everyone here is concerned and tons of Kodiak regulars on this site.

KFI makes good winches too so if you called them I'm sure they would set you up with a single source.

Any Warn retailer could probably do the same, but that might push you over $350.


I've also bought from these guys before and they stand behind their product and fitment of it. All their mounts are KFI and their winches are a private label. The KFI mount it comes with is specific for your machine.

Superwinch came in a close second but after researching winch issues I've noticed Viper owns up to issues and makes them right. A rarity these days. Anyone know where I can get a forum discount code for a viper. Would like the elite 3500 if I can get it down a bit more. Thanks again all.
