1999 600 grizzly auto jumping out off low gear. feels like not going in all the way. if push shift lever it engages but will jump out at times. would this be shift linkage adjustment? thanks

Probably.
Or you may have worn shifter linkage parts.
If you take the shift rod off the transmission and turn the trans into gear by hand, you'll feel if it engages well or not.
i just fixed one that the shiftier handle was just a little bent for ward. it rub every slot towards the front but would only jump out of first the bike had been flipped i tapped it back and it centered in each hole and stayed in gear after of course i did try adjusting it first but could not get it to sit right till couple (light) taps with rubber hammer
The Grizzly 600 shifter is a one off design. It has a weird setup on the linkage rear rod end with a spring. These parts wear, and the shifter does not engage each gear correctly, especially low.
Take a look at your linkage in the area.
