I love my new grizzly!

Just had my first oil change (10 hours), and the dealer is claiming it took over 3 liters of oil...of course he charged me for 4 liters. I'm concerned, the manual calls for 2.10 liters. 30% more oil than the manufacturers spec, is this possible?

Can i do my own service and not void the warranty?

Do you trust the dealer, maybe they are just over charging you? Perhaps it's an honest mistake? I don't think the machine can hold over 2 1/2 liters and I definitely don't think it can hold anywhere over 3 liters.

On my 05 660, I buy 5 liters (4 liter jug and a 1 liter) and end up getting 2 complete changes out of it with just a tiny bit extra leftover. I think the capacity should be similar on the 660 and 700. I also intentionally get as much oil out as I can, I get the oil nice and hot, pull the plug filler and filter, then let it drain overnight, the next day I turn the motor over without starting it a couple of times.

i run my 08 grizzly with 3 liters or more to help with the stator problem..it reads a bit past the cross marks on the stick but has never burned a drop so i am not too concerned..

Not trying to be rude, but find a dealer that can read. Its not like these machines are hand made one at a time and vary that much. It boils down to 1. They cant read, or 2. They lied and over charged. Neither option would instill trust from me to go back.

Unless it's way over filled, it probably won't hurt anything but, I gotta say, I agree with the dealer being dishonest... and I'm being REALLY nice!

Reading the dipstick is gonna be of no value. The only way to know how much yours takes is to do the oil change yourself and see if they bull shitted you.

I measure in quarts, but I add about 25% extra with no problem.
To see if its over full, start the engine and kill after a few seconds. Then check the level. If you check after sitting, it will indicate higher.
The extra liter could have been for the final drive and front diff grease/fluid and they didn't separate this on the invoice.

You may be outside the united States, but here doing your own service will not void the warranty.

Liters and quarts are pretty close, 2.5 liters = 2.64 quarts. I too measure in Quarts but to keep this thread simple I just listed my quantity in liters since they are so close.

I think the 700 motor and 660 motors are the same with the exception being the 700 is a 686cc cylinder, with that being said they should hold very close to the same amount of oil.

I got water in my motor and had to drain the shit out of it and I still never put over 2.5 quarts (2.3 liters) in my 660. I had the cylinder off and even soaked up as much oil and water as I could through the top of the crank case with paper towels.

I really hope they didn't put motor oil in your final drive or front diff as someone else said, that isn't the right oil for that application. Gear oil has special properties that are very specific for gears, in differentials the molecular structure of the oil at various temperatures is important for proper function. Motor oil basically is only for lubricating and cooling.

Dont think the suggestion meant motor oil in diff, but rather that the dealer may not have seperated the items out on the invoice. Ie. Instead of 3 liters oil and 1 liter diff fluid, they may have just said 4 liters on the invoice.
