I haven't looked at one in awhile but is it possible to do a nut buster? I don't recall seeing one done that way besides the 660, but if you could it might work good
I know I could fab out a nutbuster but wasnt sure Id like the way it would look. Maybe some plastic like the stock snork is what id like covered in about 1 1/2" of that rubbery black foam pad , thats how I picture it . Im not too excited about cutting the tank cover also .

No , I like the flexible pipes. If I run them into anything , or flip my quad ,they will be fine. I did wrap them with camouflage gun wrapping , the kind that is like medical bandaging that only sticks to itself , and comes off. I will post a pic later of how it looks....

here is a test video
Had it up to handlebars , with no problems. sorry for shitty camera work , I yelled at my bro for holding his phone the wrong way , watch till the end , as it gets better when he moves closer and go to youtube , as the quality is degraded on here

Wish the water was running, and some thick a$$ mud, but non the less, a snorkel test..

I hear you, I actually like the way the nut buster looks but I get where your coming from. I could get by without snorkels but I'd have to be more cautious. I like the clean look of stock and would love to have the time and money spent back, but the last thing I want is to swamp the grizzly. That's even more expensive and takes more time. If you take the time to do it how you want, you'll be happier.

absolutely ! Honestly , if I had picked up the kodiak new, I probably wouldnt have snorked it. Seems like they are building them tougher and more waterproof now a days .... Cautious is the way to go , def not ballz to the wall, jump n splash , lol

Hello all and thanks for all the wonderful info. I have recently purchased and basically restore an 05 kodiak 450. I then did the snorkel kit very simular to this one. Great Job, by the way. However, I am still somehow getting a stall once the carb goes under. I was wondering if anyone that has snorkeled could post some pictures of all the vent tubes (origin location) the ran up from the carb, rad. overflow, etc. Thanks in advance!

Might be the airbox. There's only one tube off the carb that needs to be ran up. Are hose clamps on the carb tight ?

Thanks for replying. I actually replaced all the clamps with good screw down ones. But I left the hoses attached to air box as they were. I don't think its the box because i can choke motor our almost immediately by covering the snorkel. I will check it again though.

I had a friend tell me to check the coil. Did you do anything with the coil. Great looking bike btw and thanks for the detailed posts.

Thank you, ok so there's also a tube coming off the airbox, I capped and sealed that off. I had issues with my air box, it seems that when I went deep enough that the space between the gas tank and gas tank cover would seal it self when it was completely surrounded by water, the factory airbox snorkel couldnt pull it air . Everytime water got above the bottom of the gas tank it would bog out on throttling. So I couldn't go as deep as I thought .... so I put together a temporary nut buster, and removed the tank cover, I'm not ready to cut into the tank cover, so I just left it off. This time there was a big loss of power, so I went with a 1.5" diameter nut buster, it's odd you'd think as much air as the intake sucks bigger would be better, but without rejetting in my case it's not. Problem solved for now. I also RTV sealed both sides of the carb, it was tight but I know how things loosen up when they get hot. I've had so much fun riding here lately I haven't had time to fabricate a permanent air box snorkel. Also been dealing with repairs, mostly what I expected since taking it in water all the time, bearings and seals all the way around, rear diff seals but did the bearings also since I was already in there, all balls and quad boss have really nice bearings, sealed on both sides, not like oem ones where it's only one side. Replaced cooling fan and a cv boot

I did not do anything with the coil ....you got me kinda stumped, if you've run all the vent lines and breather tubes up high then it should be ok , my crankcase breather tube is by it self, I have to "blow it out" every couple rides from condensation build up in it. Thick creamy white goo comes out when I do so , lol
