I did think of that, but ended up getting some material at Joanns called black casa, its much thinner than outerwears , I ended up spraying cut pieces of it with scotchguard waterproofing spray, held it in my hand like a cup and filled it with water, it stayed ! I got like 5 square ft for 5$ and cut it up in 5" x5" squares. attached by my wifes hairties, lol, all disposable ! The screen was more for looks and to stop chunks or large debris from falling in there .

Does that stuff flow good?

Outerwears was my first choice though, after pricing and not knowing if my sewing skills are that great , I went with the black casa material, it does not restrict any air flow and will hold water .

more pics ...
hole drilled slightly smaller than the threads of the brass 90, heated with torch to avoid cracking when screwing in, then epoxied in.

Awesome job, now just figure out how to replicate this for a few hundred 450 owners in a DIY kit and you'll be on your way. I agree with Dezz, best looking snorkel I've seen here yet and you have definitely let the OCD take over....we all share it with the Grizzlies.
Looking forward to future updates.

this is how I did mine ,, I did not need to cut any of my plastics under the hood , so I can put it back to stock if I wanted to.. works Great !

I have to add two posts in order for it to allow my attachment
read below

this is # two ,, kinda silly I have to do this ....

lets see if I can do it now ?

I realized that with the digital dash of the 450 ,, my way might be hard to do ...

Are you going to make risers out of rigid pvc?

No , I like the flexible pipes. If I run them into anything , or flip my quad ,they will be fine. I did wrap them with camouflage gun wrapping , the kind that is like medical bandaging that only sticks to itself , and comes off. I will post a pic later of how it looks....

here is a test video
Had it up to handlebars , with no problems. sorry for shitty camera work , I yelled at my bro for holding his phone the wrong way , watch till the end , as it gets better when he moves closer and go to youtube , as the quality is degraded on here

Do you still have the 16?

You know it !! :rocker:

never could I part with my new 700 ,,
needed something for my wife to ride , and a added bonus I can get this 400 caked up with mud , and not feel the NEED to clean it back to spotless immediately... lol
I actually am really loving this little 400 for around my house , and playing in the river.. Every little obstacle just gets a tad harder , and if I really bury it , I walk home and get out the BIG DOG (700) and pull it out..
On a side note , this 400, with stock tires, climbs out of the river and up the muddy bank BETTER than my 700 with mud tires...??
must be the weight difference that helps so much ,, cant wait to get some bigger lug tires and really see what this thing can go thru ,,, but I am already VERY impressed !!:getrdone:

nice job on the snorkel ! I did want to ask you if you had any issues doing the airbox? I bought another lid so I could practice with, they were only 14$ on ebay. I was going to finish but kinda got scared and didnt want to deal with rejetting or correct airflow to the airbox issues . also the stock air box mini snork goes pretty high under the gas tank, not quite to the handle bars though....Did you have to rejet ? That was pretty crafty to wrap the spa hose with exhaust heat shield ! I have some cool tape I used for other areas but my kodiak gets super hot right there next to the airbox. I looked into some thermoplastic rubber hose but at 120$ for 10 ft, not worth it to me . I still want to snork the air box but I need it to be "failproof" ... It gets pretty hot in the summer in Va, so I wont really ride if its hotter than 88-90, even then seems to hot to ride but if I find a shallow river you got then it would be worth it for me to finish the job .

Wow!!! $120.00 for 10' of thermoplastic hose. I bought 40'of 2'' for less than that... and the salesman threw in another 10' of new higher temp hose to try out.

lol, it was reinforced silicone rubber and orange and black in color and heat resistant up to 580F .... idk, some special hose company I reached out to....

it was ridiculous cause I only needed like 4-5 ft, but they only would sell 10' lengths ...

i did not have any issues with my air intake ,, and NO I did not need to rejet .. If anything mine runs lean still , If I put my hand over the snorkel ,it will run even better , so airflow is not a problem.. I would recommend finishing your AWESOME job , as the Air intake is BY FAR the most Vital thing to protect.. Clutches can be dryed out , motors hate water.. lol
you can get a solid white flexible pvc at most lrg hardware stores ,,, its called Spa and hot tub hose , its 1 1/2'' inside diameter , and works great ! I may end up redoing mine someday , just so its more rock solid.. Although it is much stiffer than that blue tube I used , and will be harder to do the airbox..
I have not had a leak yet , and did not glue my airbox shut. I hope this helps a bit..

Yea, I used the thick white spa hose to do my CVT snorks, but I think I'll need to do a rad relocate to make room for the airbox snork, its very tight in there. Thanks for the compliment and valuable info !

I haven't looked at one in awhile but is it possible to do a nut buster? I don't recall seeing one done that way besides the 660, but if you could it might work good
